TRANSFORMATIONS:
Celebrating East Asian-American creators and the Music of France

Inspired by the centenary of the death of Gabriel Fauré, as well as yet another generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the 2024 Season of the Maverick Concerts—America’s oldest summer chamber music series—will spark connections between the profound influence of East Asian culture on French music in the years before World War I, and the tremendous activity of musicians and composers of East Asian heritage working and transforming American classical music today. Highlights of the summer will include a rare and extensive exploration of the solo piano music of Fauré, as well as the brilliant young Vietnamese-American composer Viet Cuong serving as the festival’s composer in residence this July.
