Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase is an annual international acoustic guitar and stringed-instrument makers’ festival. They have had great success working with both The Secret Trio, and Hubby Jenkins in the past, and are excited to invite them to play their first ever concert series at Maverick Concerts this Summer 2023. Both evenings will be unplugged, playing off the natural acoustics created by the wooden construction of Maverick’s historic hall, which holds a special sonic environment for live music. The two concerts have been made possible by a grant from the Bluestein Family Foundation, administered by Maverick Concerts, Inc. This budding concert series, with hopes for continued development in coming years, anticipates the twelfth edition of the Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase, which will take place on October 13th -15th, 2023 at Bearsville Cente in Woodstock, NY.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Hubby Jenkins is a talented multi-instrumentalist who endeavors to share his love and knowledge of old-time American music. He plays guitar, banjo, mandolin, claps the bones, and sings in a rich tenor. Jenkins masters all these instruments, and seamlessly slides from Black Appalachian, North Carolina banjo to deep roots blues. Growing up, Jenkins delved into his southern roots, following the thread of African American history that wove itself through America’s traditional music forms. As an integral member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and later Rhiannon Giddens band, Jenkins has performed at festivals and venues around the world, earning himself both Grammy and Americana award nominations. He brilliantly illustrates the commonality of the new generation of African American songsters, in spirit and music. Today he spreads his knowledge and love of old-time American music through his dynamic solo performances and engaging workshops. Jenkins will be teaching at the Ashokan Center Guitar Camp Monday July 24th through Thursday July 27th.
