Acclaimed Israeli pianist Daniel Gortler has delighted audiences and critics alike with his memorable performances around the world, receiving great praise for both his technical mastery and his musical ingenuity. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras around the world including the Berlin Radio Symphony, the Bavarian Radio Symphony, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, as well as the Houston, New World, and Atlanta Symphony Orchestras. Other highlights include his debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, recital at Wigmore Hall in London, and tours around the world.
In a special appearance, celebrated actor Alan Cumming will close the concert with a melodrama for narrator and piano, written in 1897 by Richard Strauss to the words of the 1864 poem of the same name by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Cumming has performed with JayZ and Liza with a Z; he has won a Tony, hosted the Tony’s, and has been nominated for an Emmy. He has played God, Satan, Hitler and the Pope, all the parts in Macbeth, and played the role of the Master of Ceremonies in Sam Mendes’ 1993 revival of the musical Cabaret. He starred as political spinmeister Eli Gold on seven seasons of The Good Wife for which he received multiple Golden Globe, Emmy and SAG award nominations.
