Arturo O’Farrill, pianist, composer, educator, and founder and Artistic Director of the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance and was awarded two Grammy Awards and many nominations. Arturo’s concerts have triumphed at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Boston Symphony Hall, the Newport Jazz Festival and around the world. This is his Maverick debut.

Vijay Iyer, solo piano

Grammy-nominated, Vijay was described by the Los Angeles Weekly as “a boundless and deeply important young star,” and was named DownBeat Magazine's 2015 Artist of the Year, he is a 2013 MacArthur Fellow and a 2012 Doris Duke Performing Artist. In 2014 he was appointed Professor of the Arts in Harvard’s Music Department. Vijay is a Steinway artist of whom Time Out wrote: “One of his generations brightest jazz luminaries!”

Fred Hersch, jazz piano

Brilliant Composer/Pianist Fred Hersch returns again by popular request to share his Grammy-nominated artistry. Vanity Fair proclaimed him: “The most arrestingly innovative pianist in jazz over the last decade!” Jane Ira Bloom, supreme soprano saxophonist and a frequent Hersch partner, makes her Maverick debut.  Jane performed at Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Museum of Modern Art, Kennedy Center, the United Nations, and around the world. She has received numerous awards for her creativity including a 2007 Guggenheim Fellowship in music composition.

Julian Lage Trio

Guitarist Julian Lage returns to Maverick with his acclaimed trio after their brilliant performance at Carnegie Hall this season. Lage performed with many artists including Pat Metheny, Fred Hersch, and Carlos Santana (when he was only eight years old and was the subject of the 1997 Academy Award-nominated documentary film Jules at Eight. He returns by popular demand of Maverick audiences.
